1 Alarm Double House Fire - 4800 N 83rd Street

1 Alarm double house fire reported in the 4800 block of North 83rd Street (Granite Reef & Chaparral Rd) in Scottsdale, AZ.

Units responding, staged and/or on scene include: E13+ E92+ E275+ E278+ E602+ E603+ E605 C959 C957N L11 L12 LT11 LT602+ BC2 BC271 BC601 BC602 SDC FI601 SCTP01 SRP000 SWG001 and U29. Battalion Chief 601 is command/incident commander.

Details: SFD tells us in an email that Scottsdale, Phoenix and Tempe fire units responded to a garage fire. The fire spread to a shed at a neighboring residence. Granite Reef Road is closed between Camelback Road and Chaparral Road due to the fire, according to a scottsdalepd tweet. Avoid all roads to this area.

No firefighter or civilian injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Scottsdale Fire Department reminds residents to keep garages clear of flammable chemicals, including paint cans and fuel.

[Update] SFD officials tell SAN that the attic to the home was lost. Two residents were displaced along with the family pet. Granite Reef Road has reopened between between Camelback Road and Chaparral Road.

[Update 4/30/2013] SFD officials tell us that the mother and her son were given an "After the Fire" booklet that SFD provides to all families who experience a fire in the home. It provides information and resources, including Red Cross.
