Construction crews working near 78th and Camelback hit a Southwest Gas line Tuesday morning near an apartment complex.
Tiffani Nichols with the Scottsdale Fire Department said Scottsdale fire evacuated residents in the immediate area.
Nichols said Southwest gas has secured the leak.
Residents should be permitted back in building shortly.
